Missions of the school teacher
From kindergarten to CM2, the school teacher can instruct and transmit the first knowledge to the children. He can practice in nursery or primary school and works with children from 3 to 11 years old.
The school teacher takes charge of several disciplines.
In kindergarten, he mainly introduces children to letters and numbers through play. In primary school, children from 6 to 11 years old learn French and arithmetic, science, history-geography, artistic education, physics. And sporty, or civic.
The school teacher also teaches them the rules of life in society. Showing a natural, energetic and attentive authority, the school teacher must above all know how to capture the attention of his students.
The school teacher’s schedule
He provides 26 hours per week. He follows a program defined by the Ministry of National Education but has a certain freedom, particularly in grading the pupils. From the start, preparing for lessons and correcting exercises occupied a large part of his schedule.
25% Of those admitted to the school teacher competition in 2015 were salaried or unemployed.
The school teacher takes classes of 20 to 30 children, and, in rural areas, he may have to attend three or more classes. He must therefore demonstrate dynamism, pedagogy, and adaptability.
